Rubber Inflatable Pipe Plug Precautions

  • Get familiar with the pipeline conditions. Before construction, gather information about the water flow conditions in the work section, the source of upstream water flow, the distribution of the pipeline network, and the size of the operation port. Coordinate with the pipeline dispatch department to develop a plan for water stoppage, water blockage, and water diversion.
  • Choose the appropriate rubber inflatable pipe plug. Select a rubber inflatable pipe plug with the appropriate size based on the inner diameter of the pipeline; it should not be too large or too small. If there is pressure within the pipeline, inform the manufacturer, as a longer rubber inflatable pipe plug may be required.
  • Cleaning the pipeline and rubber inflatable pipe plug. Before inserting the rubber inflatable pipe plug, clean its exterior and the interior of the pipeline to avoid damaging the water plug or affecting its sealing performance.
  • Inflation safety. Before inflating the rubber inflatable pipe plug, ensure it is fully inserted into the pipe. During inflation, control the pressure within the safety factor of the plug's rated working pressure to avoid overpressure.
  • Use of protective equipment. Operators should wear protective masks and safety gear during operation, and a designated person should monitor from the ground.
  • Communication and monitoring. During construction, a designated person should monitor the air pressure of the rubber inflatable pipe plug and maintain good and stable communication with on-site personnel to ensure the safety of the operators.
  • Avoiding impact pressure. When applying a pressure, slowly open/close the valve to avoid impact pressure, which may damage the rubber inflatable pipe plug or affect its performance.
  • Inspection and maintenance. Regularly check the rubber inflatable pipe plug for any damage and perform necessary maintenance to ensure its good condition and working performance.
  • Deflation and removal. Before removing the rubber inflatable pipe plug, confirm that no other personnel are working in the pipeline, and check the pulling rope to make sure it is securely tightened. Open the valve to deflate and observe the changes in water level and the condition of the pulling rope.
